Volunteer Fees

Program Fees & allocation- Volunteers in Africa

Program fees are based on a Africa-wide average of ICA's program expenses. The information below is only a guide. Please send an email with your specific questions as the volunteer program items and rates may change at anytime.


Regular Volunteers
The Program Fee is currently set at $2,500 for a basic two-weeks (can increase the weeks) in our Africa project site to covers related costs as follows:

  • $490 — Program Development and Management
  • $470 — Outreach and Recruitment
  • $400 — Volunteer Coordination
  • $300 — Administration
  • $300 — Field Expenses - Placement and Orientation
  • $540 — Field Expenses - Weekly Fee x 2  ($270/week)

Additional stay over 2 weeks
The additional fee for each week over the initial two-week Volunteer Africa period is $270, or $39 per day. This fee covers field expenses, which on average, breaks down per volunteer as follows:

  • Food and Water ($49/week)
  • Accommodations ($60/week)
  • Local Staff ($100/week)
  • Transportation ($25/week)
  • Travel Medical Insurance & Emergency Hotline ($15/week)
  • Cultural and Learning Activities & Materials ($10/week )
  • Administrative & Other ($11/week)

 

   
  


Intern in Africa
The Program Fee is $2,740 for two weeks stay and covers:

  • $490 — Program Development and Management
  • $470 — Outreach and Recruitment
  • $400 — Volunteer Coordination
  • $300 — Administration
  • $300 — Field Expenses - Placement and Orientation
  • $780 — Field Expenses - Weekly Fee x 2

Additional stay over 2 weeks

Intern Abroad Weekly Fee Allocation
Each week over the three-week Intern Abroad program is $390, or $56 per day. This fee covers field expenses, which on average, break down per volunteer as follows:

  • Food and Water ($49/week)
  • Accommodations ($60/week)
  • Local Staff ($200/week)
  • 9% Transportation ($25/week)
  • 4% Travel Medical Insurance & Emergency Hotline ($15/week)
  • 4% Cultural and Learning Activities & Materials ($22/week)
  • 4% Administrative & Other ($19/week)

 

 
  
One Week Africa
The Program Fee is $1,820 for one week stay only and covers:
  • $340 — Program Development and Management
  • $350 — Outreach and Recruitment
  • $300 — Volunteer Coordination
  • $250 — Administration
  • $230 — Field Expenses - Placement and Orientation
  • $350 — Field Expenses - Weekly Fee

One week in Africa - Weekly Fee Allocation
Weekly fee is $350, or $50 per day. This fee covers field expenses, which break down per volunteer as follows:

  • Food and Water ($49/week)
  • Accommodations ($70/week)
  • Local Staff ($160/week)
  • Transportation ($25/week)
  • Travel Medical Insurance & Emergency Hotline ($15/week)
  • Cultural and Learning Activities & Materials ($16/week)
  • Administrative & Other ($15/week)
