Program
Entrepreneur Assistance for Jobs Creation (EAJC) Program
Fighting Poverty Through Job Creation
ICA's current key mandate, between 2007 and 2010, is to identify and assist the hundreds of thousands of promising grassroots African entrepreneurs with drive and passion to grow their small businesses to success. Once identified, ICA will assist the entrepreneurs as necessary, with business management services, coaching, mentoring, products & services development, market identification & expansion, provision of efficient tools and micro-financing. The overall objective is to assist these small businesses to become the "engines" that drive their national economies; to grow and expand their operations so that they can begin to hire more workers from the large pool of unemployed. Over the initial 5-year life of this program, ICA estimates that it will assist 10,000 micro-enterprises and create 300,000 direct and indirect new jobs, effectively moving 1 million people above the poverty line. With more funding, we would do more.
Projects
Several supporting Projects will form the key pillars of our EAJC Program and they will be announced as they become due. A project under consideration now is the:
Imo State Nigeria EAJC Pilot project
This project involves a 12-month feasibility and program trial run on a small scale involving 100 bright entrepreneurs. ICA is working with a local non-profit organization in Owerri to establish and test the program. We expect this Pilot to begin before mid 2008. Results will be shared regularly with our financial supporters and other stakeholders.
Corporate Social Responsibility: We are approaching major corporations in both Canada and Nigeria to seek their interest in becoming our partner in this very important program. We are also appealing to other companies that we may not have approached, but are interested in this program, to get in touch with us.
