Based on South African playwright Athol Fugard's
novel, TSOTSI is a thrilling, provocative look at life in the ghettos outside present-day
Johannesburg. For 19-year-old Tsotsi’s (Presley Chweneyagae) life
has no meaning beyond survival. Orphaned at an early age, he has
learned to fend for himself. One night, driven to the brink of
desperation, Tsotsi steals a woman’s car. But as he is driving off,
he makes a shocking discovery in the backseat. The pounding soundtrack features popular local Kwaito music by Zola, who also plays crimelord Fela in the film. Winner of the 2006 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, TSOTSI "will rank as one of the best films ever to come out of South Africa.
This movie event is a fundraiser to
support our African

In Africa, ICAfrica is working to reduce poverty through micro
business development coaching and micro-financing. Women play
a very significant role in grassroots micro business
development yet have very little access to traditional banks
loans. Our financing program ensures that needy enterprising
women in the rural areas get the little capitals they need for
their ventures in the for of revolving micro-loans. All
proceeds from the sale of these beautifully designed t-Shirts
are going directly to the fund that grants small loans to
women in Africa. (see
our EAJC Program).
