Support an NGO working to improve things in Africa. 
There are several local and international non-profit organizations trying to help. Every organization has a premise on how best it will help Africa. Some work on emergency relief, food-aid, child-sponsorships, health & HIV Aids, education, water, policy research, etc. ICAfrica (International Charity for Africa) is one. Our focus is jobs creation through enterprise development. Please research the various NGOs and support the one you believe will bring you the most fulfillment. 
  

 Doing something through  ICAfrica

ICAfrica is one of the international charitable organizations working on the ground to improve lives in Africa. Our main viewpoint is that extreme poverty exists in Africa because of an awfully high unemployment and wastage of human ability. The solution we recommend is to create as many new jobs as is possible by growing existing people-capacity and immediately leveraging it towards widely diversifying and boosting grassroots economies in corners of sub-Sahara Africa. In effect, we energize local micro-entrepreneurs to expand their small businesses, produce wealth and create jobs in villages, town and cities. 

We assist them with (1) micro-business coaching and (2) offer seed money in the form of micro credit.
