My
name is James Kanyai Njuguna. I am 29 years old.
Since my teenage days I have been a drug addict abusing
alcohol. I am married and have two children. My family
has had a lot of challenges with my drinking habit
almost breaking it up but, early last year Simon
introduced me to a rehabilitation and counseling program
which lasted six months. Simon
noted that since I was unemployed it was very easy for
me to go back to my addiction. It was then that he
offered to take me to a barber who trained me for three
months as a barber.
After
the training Simon introduced me to ICAfrica
Kimende branch officials who loaned me Ksh. 5000 with
which I bought shaving machine, a chair and other small
necessities at the barber shop. They also helped me get
a small room and I have been trading my skill from.
I
have been able to clear the entire first loan and I have
acquired a second loan from ICAfrica of Ksh. 10,000.
With the second loan I have started to rear a milk goat
and some chicken at home. I intend to clear the loan in
six months and I’m so grateful to ICAfrica.
I have been able to provide for my family again, and I
can make small savings to help start future projects. The
food is balanced too with eggs and milk!
I
thank Simon, the entire ICAfrica
group and the sponsors in Canada for were it not for
them, I would not be where I am today. Long live ICAfrica!
